On or about Monday, August 30th, 2021, around 2:40 in the morning, an accident between a tractor-trailer and a pedestrian claimed the life of a 54-year-old man. Local law enforcement representatives said the accident occurred along the northbound side of Highway 501 near Conway in Horry County, South Carolina.

Officers said 54-year-old Christopher Ford was killed when he was allegedly hit by a tractor-trailer as he was walking along or making an attempt to cross the northbound lanes of Highway 501. Paramedics pronounced Ford dead of his injuries a short time after the accident. Police did not mention any other vehicles in their initial report on the accident.

According to Google Maps, Highway 501 runs north and south through Horry County, with the scene of the accident situated not far from the Conway city limits.

Police are still investigating.
