Details:
On or about Sunday, November 7th, 2021, around 2:30 in the morning, a major accident with an alleged drunk driver claimed the lives of two 19-year-old individuals. Troopers from the Department of Public Safety said the accident was reported in the 2300 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway in Beaumont, Texas.
Investigators said 19-year-old Clyde Thompson and 19-year-old Tonysha Lashay Smith were killed when a wrong-way driver allegedly struck their car head-on. Emergency responders pronounced Thompson dead of his injuries at the scene of the accident, while paramedics rushed Smith to CHRISTUS St. Elizabeth Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries a short time after her arrival.
Police identified the wrong-way driver as 22-year-old Antonio Delgado, who has since been charged with two counts of Intoxication Manslaughter in connection with the accident.
