On or about Monday, November 9th, 2020, around 12:00 in the afternoon, a three vehicle accident involving a tractor-trailer claimed the life of a 33-year-old Sulphur resident. State Police said the accident happened on Highway 27 near Jimmy Savoie Road in Cameron Parish, Louisiana.

Police said 33-year-old Cody Joshua Evans was killed when the straight truck he was driving was hit head-on by a tractor-trailer that allegedly veered over the center line after it rear-ended a pickup truck. Paramedics pronounced Evans dead after the collision. One person in the pickup truck was treated for unspecified injuries.

Authorities cited the driver of the tractor-trailer for carless operation after the crash.

Google Maps shows Highway 27 is two lanes that run east and west through a rural area. The roadway is flanked by grassland on either side of the pavement. Cameron Parish is located just south of Lake Charles.

Louisiana State Police is still investigating the accident.
