Details:
On or about Thursday, March 18th, 2021, around 10:40 in the morning, an accident involving a car and a tractor-trailer sent two drivers to the hospital. Officials from the ISP said the accident was reported in the westbound lanes of Interstate 74 just outside Urbana, Illinois.
Police officers said a tractor-trailer driven by 55-year-old William Emerick allegedly veered off the side of the interstate and slammed into an overpass support column. A nearby car driven by 23-year-old Colleen Wilkes was struck by debris. Emergency responders transported Wilkes and Emerick to the hospital with unspecified injuries.
Police have since cited Emerick with improper lane usage in connection with the accident.
According to Google Maps, the accident happened about three miles east of Interstate 30.
Officials are still investigating the accident.
