On or about Tuesday, August 10th, 2021, around 10:30 in the morning, a multi-vehicle accident left one construction worker dead and sent another to the hospital. Troopers from the Department of Public Safety said the accident was reported along the Eastex Freeway near the exchange with Tram Road in Beaumont, Texas.

Police said one as-of-yet unidentified construction worker was killed, while another was rushed to the hospital after several vehicles collided in a chain-reaction accident in the 11000 block of the Eastex Freeway. After the initial collisions, two construction workers were hit by a vehicle. Both construction workers were rushed to a nearby hospital where one of them succumbed to their injuries a short time after their arrival.

According to Google Maps, the Eastex Freeway cuts north and south through the center of Beaumont, which is roughly 84 miles east of downtown Houston.

Texas DPS and local officials assisted at the scene of the accident.
