On or about Monday, August 30th, 2021, around 10:29 at night, an accident between a car, a pickup truck, and two heavy-duty pickup trucks left two people dead and sent two others to the hospital. Investigators from the ASP said the accident was reported along Interstate 40 approaching the 236 mile marker in Palestine, Arkansas.

Deputies from the St. Francis County Sheriff’s Office said 39-year-old Corey Brothers and an as-of-yet unidentified child were killed, while 19-year-old Yovanni Gamarras-Zambrano and 50-year-old Marcelo Gamarras were injured when a Chevrolet Silverado, a Toyota Camry, a Dodge Ram 2500 and a Dodge Ram 3500 collided in a chain-reaction accident. Police said the accident started when the Silverado allegedly skidded across the center line and into oncoming traffic. Brothers and the unidentified juvenile were pronounced dead a short time after the accident, while Gamarras-Zambrano and Gamarras were taken to Forrest City Medical Center with unspecified injuries.

According to Google Maps, Interstate 40 runs east and west along the northern edge of Palestine, which is about 85 miles east of Little Rock.

Police are still investigating.
