Details:
On or about Thursday, April 28th, 2022, sometime in the afternoon hours, an accident between a pickup truck, a heavy duty truck towing a trailer, and a tractor-trailer left two Texas residents dead. Troopers from the NMSP said the accident was reported along State Road 176 in Lea County, New Mexico.
Representatives from the New Mexico State Police said 43-year-old Cortney DeWayne Hartman and 52-year-old Christopher Daniel Barrandey were killed when the pickup truck they were in was allegedly struck from behind by a Ford F-350 pickup truck towing a trailer. The force of the impact pushed the pickup Hartman and Barrandey were in into the rear of a tractor-trailer a short distance ahead. Emergency responders pronounced Barrandey and Hartman dead of their injuries after the accident, while the driver of the Ford F-350 was taken to the hospital with injuries of an unspecified nature or severity.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is a short distance from the town of Eunice.
Authorities are still investigating the cause of the accident.
