On or about Thursday, July 8th, 2021, around 3:35 in the afternoon, a single-vehicle tractor-trailer accident claimed the life of a 60-year-old man. Authorities from the NHP said the accident was reported along the eastbound side of Interstate 80 and stretched into the westbound lanes in Elko County, Nevada.

Troopers from the Nevada Highway Patrol said 60-year-old Curtis Vernon Okelberry was killed when the tractor-trailer he was driving allegedly sustained a tire blowout and skidded out of the eastbound lanes of Interstate 80 and crashed across the westbound lanes. Paramedics pronounced Okelberry dead of his injuries at the scene of the accident. Police did not mention any other injuries stemming from the crash.

According to Google Maps, Interstate 80 runs east and west through Elko County, with the scene of the accident not far from Wendover, which is about 363 miles north of Las Vegas.
