On or about Friday, December 11th, 2020, around 8:30 in the morning, an accident between a box truck and a cyclist claimed the life of a 41-year-old man. Officers from the NYPD said the accident happened at the intersection of East 118th Street and First Avenue in East Harlem, New York.
Police officers indicated that one as-of-yet unidentified 41-year-old man died when he was allegedly hit by a box truck while riding against traffic at or near the intersection. Paramedics transported the cyclist to nearby Harlem Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries a short time after his arrival.
Looking at the intersection on Google Maps shows First Avenue is three lanes that run north in one direction, while East 118th runs west with two lanes. The intersection is controlled by a stoplight
Police expect to release the findings of their investigation at a later date.
