On or about Monday, November 29th, 2021, around 2:30 in the morning, an accident between a suspected drunk driver and a cyclist left one person dead. Deputies from the Harris County Sheriff’s Department said the accident was reported in the 2800 block of West Little York Road in Houston, Texas.
Officials said one as-of-yet unidentified individual was killed when they were allegedly struck by a suspected drunk driver behind the wheel of a pickup truck as they were riding their bike alongside or across West Little York Road. Emergency responders pronounced the cyclist dead of their injuries when they arrived at the scene of the accident. Officers did not mention any other vehicles in their preliminary statement.
Authorities said the driver of the pickup truck displayed signs of intoxication after the accident, and potentially faces intoxication manslaughter charges.
According to Google Maps, the 2800 block of West Little York Road is on the northwest side of Houston.
Police are still investigating.
