On or about Monday, February 8th, 2021, around 1:30 in the afternoon, an accident between a cyclist and a trolley bus left one person dead. Troopers from the FHP said the accident happened at the intersection of Stickney Point Road and Midnight Pass Road in Siesta Key, Florida.

Deputies from the sheriff’s office said one as-of-yet unidentified person was killed when they were allegedly struck by a bus while riding their bike. Officials said the cyclist may have been attempting a turn when the accident happened. Police did not mention any other injuries in their preliminary report.

According to Google Maps, Siesta Key is about 67 miles south of Tampa.

Local law enforcement assisted at the scene of the accident, which is still under investigation.
