On or about Thursday, October 28th, 2021, an accident between a tractor-trailer and a motorcycle claimed the life of a 21-year-old man. Officials from the WVSP said the accident was reported along the southbound side of Interstate 81 in Martinsburg, West Virginia.
Authorities said 21-year-old Dakota Waitkus was killed when the motorcycle he was driving allegedly slammed into the back of a tractor-trailer in the southbound lanes of I-81. Emergency responders pronounced Waitkus dead of his injuries when emergency responders arrived at the scene. Police identified the driver of the tractor-trailer as Nicholas Miller, who was unhurt in the accident.
According to Google Maps, Interstate 81 runs north and south through the center of Martinsburg, which is about 305 miles southwest of Charleston.
Officials are still investigating the crash.
