On or about Sunday, March 13th, 2022, around 9:45 at night, a major hit-and-run accident between a box truck and a passenger vehicle sent a 20-year-old man to the hospital. Authorities from the area said the accident was reported along Fort Campbell Boulevard in Hopkinsville, Kentucky.

Troopers from the Kentucky State Police said 20-year-old Dalton Sibley was killed when a box truck allegedly slammed into the back of Sibley’s vehicle and fled the scene along Fort Campbell Boulevard. Emergency responders transported Sibley to a nearby hospital with injuries of an unspecified nature or severity.

Officials have since identified the driver of the box truck as Jonathan Smith, who has since been charged with fleeing or evading police, leaving the scene of an accident, resisting arrest, and speeding in connection with the accident.

Police are still investigating the accident.
