Details:
On or about Friday, December 10th, 2021, a major accident between a van and a tractor-trailer claimed the life of an 80-year-old Mountain View woman. Troopers from the ASP said the accident was reported along Highway 9 just outside Shirley in Van Buren County, Arkansas.
Arkansas State Police and local law enforcement officials said 80-year-old Darla Furrer was killed when a tractor-trailer allegedly lost control and skidded over the center line of Highway 9 where it collided with Furrer’s van. Paramedics pronounced Furrer dead a short time after the accident, but it is not currently clear if she died at the scene, or if she was rushed to a hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is a short distance north of Shirley, which is about 81 miles north of downtown Little Rock.
Police are still investigating the accident.
