Details:
On or about Tuesday, May 31st, 2022, sometime in the afternoon hours, an accident between a tractor-trailer and a riding lawnmower left a 74-year-old man dead. Troopers from the ISP said the accident was reported along Highway 124 in Sangamon County, Illinois.
Authorities from the Illinois State Police said 74-year-old Darrell “Al” Sample was killed when he was allegedly struck by a tractor-trailer while operating a riding lawnmower along Highway 124. Emergency responders rushed Sample to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries a short time after his arrival.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is not far from the town of Sherman.
Police are still investigating.
