On or about Wednesday, October 27th, 2021, around 5:30 in the afternoon, an accident between a dump truck and a car left a 48-year-old man dead and sent a 26-year-old man to the hospital. Local law enforcement representatives said the accident was reported along Highway 21 near the exchange with McFadden Road in Chester County, South Carolina.

Officials said 48-year-old Darrell Linn Pigg was killed when his car and a dump truck collided under unspecified circumstances while driving along Highway 21. Paramedics pronounced Pigg dead of his injuries a short time after the accident. The driver of the dump truck, identified only as a 26-year-old man, was taken to the hospital with injuries of an unknown nature or severity.

According to Google Maps, Highway 21 runs north and south along the eastern edge of Chester County, which is about 56 miles north of Columbia.
