On or about Sunday, August 15th, 2021, around 12:09 in the afternoon, an accident between a tractor-trailer and a pedestrian claimed the life of a 55-year-old Gautier man. Officials from the MSP said the accident occurred along Highway 98 in George County, Mississippi.
Investigators said 55-year-old Darrell Wayne Lawrence was killed when he was allegedly struck by a passing tractor-trailer on Highway 98. Paramedics pronounced Lawrence dead of his injuries a short time after they arrived at the scene. Authorities did not mention any other vehicles in their initial report on the incident.
According to Google Maps, Highway 98 runs east and west through the northeast corner of George County, which is about 60 miles north of Biloxi.
Police are still investigating the accident.
