Details:
On or about Friday, October 8th, 2021, around 6:00 in the morning, an accident between a pedestrian and a heavy-duty pickup truck left a 38-year-old man dead. Officers from the MPD said the accident was reported in the 2000 block of North Fairgrounds Road in Midland, Texas.
Police said 38-year-old Darrell Wilkerson was killed when he was allegedly struck by a Ford F-550 pickup truck while he was walking along or trying to cross the northbound lanes of North Farigrounds Road. Emergency responders pronounced Wilkerson dead of his injuries a short time after they arrived at the scene of the accident. Police did not mention any other injuries in their initial statement on the accident.
According to Google Maps, North Farigrounds Road runs north and south along the eastern edge of Midland.
Authorities are still working to pin down all the factors that may have contributed to the accident.
