On or about Friday, November 12th, 2021, around 8:00 in the morning, a single-vehicle tractor-trailer accident sent a 55-year-old Rock Valley man to the hospital. Deputies from the O’Brien County Sheriff’s Department said the accident was reported along Highway 60 just outside Sheldon, Iowa.

Investigators said 55-year-old Daryl Roy Kats was injured when the tractor-trailer he was driving allegedly drove off the side of Highway 60 and jackknifed in the median of the roadway. Paramedics transported Kats to Sheldon Medical Center with injuries of an unspecified nature or severity.

According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is a short distance northeast of Sheldon, which is about 225 miles northwest of Des Moines.

Law enforcement agencies from the surrounding areas assisted after the accident.
