On or about Friday, January 7th, 2022, around 9:00 in the morning, a serious accident between a flatbed tractor-trailer and a pickup truck left a 60-year-old Carthage man dead and sent a 38-year-old Hemphill man to the hospital. Representatives from the Department of Public Safety said the accident was reported along Highway 87 at the intersection with Recreational Road 255 just outside Mayflower in Newton County, Texas.

Authorities from the area said 60-year-old David Bullock was killed when the pickup truck he was driving allegedly failed to yield at the intersection of Highway 87 and Recreational Road 255 when it was struck by a flatbed tractor-trailer. Emergency responders pronounced Bullock dead of his injuries at the scene of the accident. Officials identified the driver of the tractor-trailer as 38-year-old Carlos Munguia–Banuelos, who was transported by paramedics to Sabine County Hospital with unspecified injuries.

According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is not far from Mayflower, which is about 160 miles northeast of downtown Houston.
