On or about Tuesday, June 21st, 2022, around 6:30 in the morning, a hit-and-run accident between a passenger vehicle and a man in a wheelchair left one person dead. Local law enforcement personnel said the accident was reported along Northwest Boulevard in Calallen, Texas.
Authorities from the area said 42-year-old David Yates was killed when he was allegedly hit by a vehicle while he was traveling alongside or trying to cross the roadway. After the initial accident, the vehicle fled the scene of the incident. Emergency responders pronounced Yates dead of his injuries a short time after they responded to the accident.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is in front of Calallen High School.
Officials are still investigating the accident.
