On or about Friday, December 24th, 2021, around 9:20 in the morning, an accident between a Baldor delivery truck, a pedestrian and a cyclist left two men dead. Officials from the NYPD said the accident was reported along East 61st Street at the intersection with 3rd Avenue in the Upper East Side neighborhood of New York City, New York.

Authorities from the New York Police Department said 37-year-old Taurino Rosendo Morales and 47-year-old Delfino Eduardo Maceda were killed when a Baldor food delivery truck allegedly lurched suddenly off a stop when it mounted the curb where it struck Morales and Maceda. Emergency responders rushed Morales and Maceda to nearby hospitals where they both succumbed to their injuries a short time after their arrival.

According to Google Maps, the intersection of East 61st Street and 3rd Avenue is situated a short distance from Central Park.

Officials are still investigating the factors that may have contributed to the accident.
