Details:

Dawson County Sheriff’s Deputy Jessie Perez was killed after he was struck by debris from a commercial vehicle on Highway 180 in Lamesa, TX. Officials with the Texas Department of Public Safety say the accident occurred around 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 22, 2025.

Deputy Perez was conducting an unrelated traffic stop when he was hit by the debris. First responders transported him to Lamesa Medical Arts Hospital, where he would later be pronounced dead. Troopers from the Texas Highway Patrol are currently investigating the accident.
