On or about Tuesday, October 26th, 2021, around 7:00 in the morning, an accident between a school bus and a pedestrian claimed the life of a 54-year-old Hartford man. Police said the accident was reported along Burnham Street near the intersection with Dolores Drive in East Hartford, Connecticut.

Investigators said 54-year-old Derrick Bellamy was killed when he was allegedly struck by a mini school bus as he was walking alongside or made an attempt to cross Burnham Street near Dolores Drive. Emergency responders rushed Bellamy to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries a short time after his arrival. Officials said there were no students on the bus at the time of the accident, and no other injuries were reported.

According to Google Maps, the intersection of Burnham Street and Dolores Drive is situated a short distance northeast of downtown Hartford.

Police are still examining the cause of the accident.
