On or about Tuesday, March 8th, 2022, around 4:18 in the afternoon, a serious accident between a tractor-trailer and a passenger vehicle left two teenage sisters dead. Officials from the GSP said the accident was reported at the intersection of Highway 4 and Five Points Road in Toombs County, Georgia.

Spokespeople from the Georgia State Patrol said 18-year-old Desirae Lee Cannon and 14-year-old Haley Cannon were killed when a tractor-trailer allegedly struck the vehicle they were in as they were turning at the intersection of Highway 4 and Five Points Road. Paramedics pronounced Desirae Lee Cannon and Haley Cannon dead of their injuries a short time after the collision.

According to Google Maps, Toombs County is roughly 184 miles southeast of downtown Atlanta.

Authorities are still examining the factors that may have contributed to the accident.
