Details:
On or about December 31st, 2021, a major two-vehicle accident with an alleged wrong-way driver left one man dead. Deputies from the County Sheriff’s Office said the accident was reported along Commerce Street in Dallas, Texas.
Officers from the Dallas Police Department said Dil Chainy was killed when his vehicle was allegedly struck by a pickup truck that was driving the wrong direction on Commerce Street with it’s lights off. Emergency responders pronounced Chainy dead of his injuries after the accident, but it is not clear if he died at the scene or after being rushed to a nearby hospital.
Police have since identified the driver of the pickup truck as Matt Smith, who currently faces manslaughter charges in connection with the accident.
Authorities are still investigating the accident.
