On or about Thursday, December 16th, 2021, around 6:49 in the morning, an accident between a tractor-trailer and a pickup truck claimed the life of an 83-year-old man. Spokespeople from the Department of Public Safety said the accident was reported along U.S. Highway 83 at or near the exchange with Private Road 314 in Jones County, Texas.
Texas DPS Troopers said 83-year-old Donald Marr was killed when a tractor-trailer allegedly attempted to make a left turn and struck Marr’s pickup truck as he was southbound on Highway 83. Emergency responders pronounced Marr dead a short time after the accident, but it is not immediately clear if he died at the scene, or if he was rushed to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries a short time after his arrival. The driver of the tractor-trailer was unhurt in the accident.
According to Google Maps, Jones County is situated about 152 miles southeast of Lubbock.
