On or about Wednesday, December 8th, 2021, around 7:50 in the morning, a serious accident between an SUV and a tractor-trailer claimed the life of a 35-year-old Eastman, Georgia man and sent three other people to the hospital. Investigators from the Braxton County Sheriff’s Department said the accident was reported along Interstate 79 in Sutton, West Virginia.

Officials from the area said 35-year-old Donte Pierre Arthur Lewis Mapp Jr. was killed, while two of his passengers and a truck driver were injured when the SUV Mapp was driving and a tractor-trailer collided under unspecified circumstances on Interstate 79. Mapp was pronounced dead of his injuries following the accident, but it is not immediately clear if he died at the scene, or if he succumbed to his injuries after being rushed to the hospital. Paramedics transported two of Mapp’s passengers in the SUV as well as the driver of the tractor-trailer to a nearby hospital with injuries of an unknown nature or severity.

According to Google Maps, Interstate 79 runs north and south along the western edge of Sutton, which is about 68 miles northeast of downtown Charleston.
