On or about Tuesday, May 25th, 2021, around 10:30 in the morning, an accident between a tractor-trailer and a Department of Transportation truck left one person injuries. Troopers from the MSHP said the accident happened along the westbound side of Interstate 470 in Lee’s Summit, Missouri.
Law enforcement officials said a DOT worker was injured when a tractor-trailer allegedly struck the back of a crash attenuator truck that was protecting a work zone. Emergency responders treated the DOT worker for unspecified injuries after the accident, but it is not clear if they were transported to the hospital or treated at the scene. Police did not mention any other injuries in their initial statement on the accident.
According to Google Maps, Interstate 470 runs east and west through Lee’s Summit, which is situated on the southeast side of Kansas City.
Police hope to release the findings of their investigation at a later date.
