Details:
On or about Friday, March 18th, 2022, around 7:45 in the morning, an alleged DUI tractor-trailer accident left one man dead and sent four others to the hospital. Law enforcement officials from the WSP said the accident was reported along Interstate 5 in Tacoma, Washington.
Representatives from the Washington State Patrol said 54-year-old Dung T. Nguyen was killed when his vehicle was allegedly struck by a tractor-trailer driven by an alleged DWI driver on I-5. The tractor-trailer allegedly hit several other vehicles in addition to Nguyen’s. Paramedics pronounced Nguyen dead a short time after the accident, while four other people were rushed to the hospital with unspecified injuries.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is near the exchange with 38th Street.
Authorities have since charged the driver of the tractor-trailer with vehicular homicide, four counts of vehicular assault and driving under the influence in connection with the incident.
Officials are still investigating.
