On or about Friday, October 8th, 2021, around 6:40 in the morning, an accident between a pickup truck and a tractor-trailer sent a 34-year-old man to the hospital. Department of Public Safety Troopers said the accident was reported along Highway 98 in Bowie County, Texas.
Texas DPS officials said 34-year-old Dustin Blade Jacobs was injured when the pickup truck he was driving was allegedly struck by a tractor-trailer that was backing out of a private driveway off the side of Highway 98. Police said the truck was blocking the lane of traffic in the moments before the accident. Paramedics transported Jacob to the hospital with unspecified injuries after the accident.
Officials said the tractor-trailer was out of compliance due to visible reflectors and the rear side marker lamp. The truck driver allegedly told officials he could see Jacob’s vehicle down the road and estimated he had enough time to make the turn.
Police are still investigating the incident.
