On or about Tuesday, March 2nd, 2021, around 6:30 in the morning, an accident between a car and a tractor-trailer left a 40-year-old Abilene man dead. Department of Public Safety Trooper said the accident happened along Highway 277 in Hawley, Texas.
Deputies from the County Sheriff’s Office said a tractor-trailer allegedly struck Dustin Garcia’s car after it had lost control when it hit a mattress in the roadway. Garcia was pronounced dead at the scene by a Justice of the Peace. The driver of the tractor-trailer was treated for unspecified injuries.
Hawley is situated roughly 13 miles north of downtown Abilene, according to Google Maps.
Texas DPS and local law enforcement are investigating the accident.
