Details:
On or about Wednesday, December 29th, 2021, around 8:00 in the morning, a major accident between a pickup truck and a garbage truck claimed the life of a 27-year-old woman and sent two other individuals to the hospital. Deputies from the Travis County Sheriff’s Office said the accident was reported at the intersection of Farm-to-Market 2222 and Loop 360 in Austin, Texas.
Law enforcement spokespeople said 27-year-old Egypt Catai West was killed when the a garbage truck allegedly veered over the center line of the roadway following a collision with a pickup truck when it slammed into West’s SUV in oncoming traffic. Emergency responders pronounced West dead of her injuries a short time after they arrived at the scene of the collision. The driver of the garbage truck and the driver of the pickup truck were transported to area hospitals with injuries of an unspecified nature or severity.
According to Google Maps, the intersection of Farm-to-Market 2222 and Loop 360 is on the far west side of Austin.
Authorities are still working to piece together what happened in the crash.
