Details:
On or about Sunday, August 1st, 2021, around 12:56 in the afternoon, an accident between a car and a tractor-trailer left one child dead, and sent two other people to the hospital. Officials from the CHP said the accident was reported along the northbound side of Interstate 15 in Oak Hills, California.
Troopers from the California Highway Patrol said Elaine Barraba was killed, while another child and the driver of the car they were in were rushed to the hospital after a collision with a tractor-trailer. After the initial contact, the car allegedly drove off the side of the road and rolled several times. Barraba died of her injuries a short time after the accident, while the other two were airlifted to the hospital with unspecified injuries stemming from the accident.
According to Google Maps, Interstate 15 runs north and south along the eastern edge of Oak Hills, which is about 76 miles northeast of downtown Los Angeles.
Police are still working to pin down what may have led to the accident.
