On or about Tuesday, August 24th, 2021, an accident between a motorhome and a tractor-trailer left a 74-year-old woman dead and sent a 48-year-old man to the hospital. Authorities from the DPS said the accident was reported along Highway 87 at the intersection with FM 700 in Howard County, Texas.
Troopers from the Department of Public Safety said 74-year-old Elizabeth Bergen was killed when the motorhome she was driving allegedly collided with a tractor-trailer driven by 48-year-old Ishmael Herrera at the intersection of Highway 87 and FM 700. Paramedics rushed Bergen to University Medical Center in Lubbock where she succumbed to her injuries a short time after her arrival. Herrera was taken to Scenic Mountain Medical Center with unspecified injuries stemming from the incident.
According to Google Maps, Howard County is situated about 105 miles south of Lubbock.
