On or about Sunday, April 9th, 2022, around 3:00 in the morning, a serious single-vehicle car accident left a 47-year-old man dead. Spokespeople from the Department of Public Safety said the accident was reported along Farm-to-Market Road 2088 in Wood County, Texas.
Texas Department of Public Safety representatives said 47-year-old Elke M. Wieland Sanchez was killed when the vehicle she was driving allegedly skidded off the side of the road and slammed into a tree a short distance off the pavement. Emergency responders pronounced Sanchez dead of her injuries a short time after they arrived at the scene of the crash.
According to Google Maps, Wood County is about 101 miles east of downtown Dallas.
