On or about Wednesday, February 2nd, 2022, around 8:00 at night, an accident between an SUV and a passenger vehicle sent two women to the hospital. Authorities from the area said the accident was reported along Highway 63 just outside Curtis in Jasper County, Texas.

Investigators said 63-year-old Emma Carter and 74-year-old Betty Shaw were injured when the SUV they were in was allegedly struck from behind by a passenger vehicle when the SUV slowed or stopped to make a turn. Paramedics transported Carter and Shaw to a nearby hospital with unspecified injuries after the accident.

According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is a short distance from Curtis, which is about 131 miles northeast of downtown Houston.
