On or about Monday, May 30th, 2022, around 10:00 at night, a major two-vehicle car accident left one person dead and sent seven others to the hospital. Troopers from the Department of Public Safety said the accident was reported along State Highway 121 in Trenton, Texas.
Officials from the Texas Department of Public Safety said 37-year-old Eric McGarity was killed, while seven other people were injured when McGarity’s vehicle allegedly veered over the center line of Highway 121 when it struck another vehicle in oncoming traffic. McGarity died of his injuries a short time after the accident, while seven other people were taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is not far from the county line dividing Collin and Fannin counties.
Authorities are still examining the factors that may have contributed to the accident.
