On or about Thursday, January 13th, 2022, around 12:20 in the afternoon, an accident between a tractor-trailer and a water tanker left one man dead and sent another person to the hospital. Troopers from the KSP said the accident was reported at the intersection of Northeast 130th Avenue and Northeast 70th Road in Barton County, Kansas.

Investigators from the Kansas State Police said 36-year-old Eric Steinert was killed when the water tanker he was driving was allegedly hit by a tractor-trailer that failed to yield at the intersection of Northeast 130th Avenue and Northeast 70th Road. Paramedics pronounced Steinert dead of his injuries after the accident. Police identified the driver of the tractor-trailer as 66-year-old David Wirth, who was taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries stemming from the crash.

According to Google Maps, Barton County is about 114 miles northwest of Wichita.
