Details:
On or about Saturday, February 26th, 2022, around 3:35 in the morning, an accident between a tanker truck and a passenger vehicle left two individuals dead. Troopers from the NYSP said the accident was reported along Route 111 near Ironwood Drive in Islip, New York.
Spokespeople from the New York State Police said 27-year-old Erick Olivares and 27-year-old Kevin Santamaria were killed when the vehicle they were in allegedly veered over the center line of Route 111 and struck a tanker truck in the oncoming lanes. Emergency responders pronounced Olivares and Santamaria dead of their injuries a short time after the collision.
According to Google Maps, Islip is situated on Long Island.
Officials are still investigating the collision.
