Details:
On or about Saturday, February 26th, 2022, around 3:03 in the morning, a suspected drunk driving accident left two residents of Mexico dead. Troopers from the Department of Public Safety said the accident was reported along Highway 83 just outside Laredo, Texas.
Officials from the Texas Department of Public Safety said Erick Alberto Moreno Rodriguez and Brayan Alvarez Morales were killed when the SUV they were in was allegedly struck by a Volkswagen Beetle that was driving the wrong direction on Highway 83. Emergency responders pronounced Rodriguez and Morales dead of their injuries, while a third passenger in the SUV was taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries.
Authorities said the driver of the Volkswagen Beetle demonstrated signs of intoxication after the accident.
Police are still investigating the accident.
