Details:
On or about Wednesday, November 17th, 2021, around 11:00 in the morning, an accident with a suspected DUI driver sent a 47-year-old woman to the hospital. Representatives from the EPPD said the accident was reported along San Juan Street in El Paso, Texas.
Investigators said 47-year-old Erika Cervantes was injured when a Chevrolet Tahoe driven by 24-year-old Juset DeSantiago allegedly veered off the side of the road and struck Cervantes as she was walking to a nearby dumpster. After hitting DeSantiago, the Tahoe struck a parked Ford Escape and crashed into a nearby apartment building. Paramedics transported Cervantes to a nearby hospital where she was reported in critical condition by medical staff. DeSantiago was taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries stemming from the accident.
Authorities said DeSantiago may face an Intoxication Assault charge in connection with the crash.
According to Google Maps, San Juan Road is on the south side of El Paso.
Officials are still investigating the accident.
