On or about Thursday, March 3rd, 2022, sometime in the afternoon hours, a serious single-vehicle rollover car accident left one woman dead. Authorities from the DPS said the accident was reported along Highway 69 just outside Rusk in Cherokee County, Texas.
Authorities from the Texas Department of Public Safety said Erika Diaz was killed when the vehicle she was in allegedly lost control and rolled when she swerved to avoid another collision. Diaz was pronounced dead of her injuries a short time after EMS responded to the accident.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is about 3 miles south of Rusk.
Authorities are still looking into the circumstances surrounding the accident.
