Details:
On or about Wednesday, May 18th, 2022, around 2:40 in the morning, a major single-vehicle car accident left a 24-year-old woman dead. Deputies from the Travis County Sheriff’s Office said the accident was reported along the Interstate 35 service road in Austin, Texas.
Spokespeople from the Austin Police Department said 24-year-old Erika Martinez was killed when the passenger vehicle she was driving allegedly veered off the side of the I-35 service road and slammed into a utility pole a short distance off the pavement. Emergency responders rushed Martinez to nearby Dell Seton Medical Center where she succumbed to her injuries the day after her arrival. Authorities did not mention any other vehicles in their statement on the crash.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is on the northeast side of Austin.
Officials are still examining the factors that may have played a role in the accident.
