On or about Tuesday, March 2nd, 2021, around 8:05 in the morning, an accident between a heavy duty truck and several cars left a 45-year-old woman dead. Troopers from the CHP said the accident happened in the northbound lanes of Highway 101 near the intersection with Alum Rock Avenue in San Jose, California.
California Highway Patrol said 45-year-old Esmerelda Carrillo Bejar was killed when her Toyota RAV4 was allegedly rear-ended by a Dodge 5500 heavy-duty pickup truck while she was stopped in traffic. The force of the collision caused a chain-reaction with two other nearby vehicles. One of the vehicles burst into flames following the crash. Bejar was pronounced dead of her injuries at the scene.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is a short distance from downtown San Jose.
