On or about Saturday, May 16th, 2022, around 7:30 in the evening, an accident between an alleged drunk driver and a motorcycle left a 56-year-old man dead. Representatives from the Department of Public Safety said the accident was reported at the intersection Market Road 1291 and Farm-to-Market Road 2145 in Fayette County, Texas.
Law enforcement officials said 56-year-old Eugene Barnes was killed when the passenger vehicle allegedly failed to yield and struck the motorcycle Barnes was driving at FM 1291 and FM 2145. Emergency responders pronounced Barnes dead of his injuries a short time after they arrived at the scene of the accident.
Authorities have identified the driver of the passenger vehicle as William Kubena, who has since been charged with intoxication manslaughter in connection with the accident.
Officials are still investigating the incident.
