Details:
On or about Wednesday, August 25th, 2021, around 3:00 in the afternoon, an accident between a tractor-trailer and another 18-wheeler left two people dead and sent a third to the hospital. Department of Public Safety Troopers said the accident occurred along Interstate 45 near FM 1696 in Walker County, Texas.
Law enforcement representatives said a tractor-trailer driven by Everett Sims allegedly crossed over the center line of Interstate 45 and struck a tractor-trailer driven by 44-year-old Maikel Gilleon. Sims and his passenger, identified as 30-year-old Kallie Huckaba were pronounced dead following the accident, while Gilleon was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries stemming from the accident.
According to Google Maps, Interstate 45 runs north and south through the center of Walker County, which is about 75 miles north of downtown Houston.
Police are still investigating the accident.
