Details:

61-Year-Old Fernando Ruiz was killed after a tire came off a Ford Van and crashed through the windshield of his Toyota Tundra on I-680 near Alamo, CA. Troopers from the California Highway Patrol say the accident took place around 1:35 p.m. on Thursday, April 17, 2025.

Early reports show the Ford Van was travelling north when its left rear tire detached. It went over the center median and crashed through the windshield of the southbound Toyota.

Ruiz, the driver and sole occupant of the Toyota, was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the accident.
