On or about Monday, December 21st, 2020, around 4:30 in the afternoon, a single-vehicle accident sent fifteen people to the hospital. Law enforcement spokespeople said the accident happened in the 19000 block of FM 1252 just outside Winona in Smith County, Texas.
Troopers from the Texas DPS said fifteen people were injured when the passenger van they were in crashed under unknown conditions near Interstate Highway 20. Paramedics transported all fifteen victims to area hospitals with unknown injuries. Police said at least one person was taken to the hospital by helicopter.
Google Maps shows FM 1252 is two lanes that run east and west through Smith County, which is situated about 98 miles west of the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex.
