On or about Thursday, March 17th, 2022, around 5:00 in the morning, a massive 47 vehicle pileup accident between passenger vehicles, commercial trucks, and tractor-trailers left five people dead and fourteen people injured. Authorities from the MSHP said the accident was reported along Interstate 57 in Mississippi County, Missouri.

Officials from the Missouri State Highway Patrol said five as-of-yet unidentified people were killed and fourteen others were injured when forty-seven vehicles, including commercial trucks and tractor-trailers collided in a major chain-reaction accident along I-57. Emergency responders pronounced five people dead after the accident, while fourteen others were treated for various injuries stemming from the accident.

According to Google Maps, Interstate 57 cuts north and south through Mississippi County, which is situated in southeast Missouri.

Officials are still investigating the accident.
